Today I’m keeping things simple with a selection of photos from our week in Oklahoma. To me, going for a visit feels so standard: I’m from this part of the world, I’m used to the fast food chains, the flat, sprawling landscape, the driving culture. It was so fun to see things through Peter’s eyes: he got to be a tourist in my homeland!
Me, jetlagged beyond all reason at a TGI Friday’s during a three-hour layover in Dallas:
As seen from the car while driving down Tulsa’s stretch of Route 66:
Seen at a gas station on rural Route 66:
The remnants of a plate-sized cinnamon roll called “The Jeb,” from Dilly Diner (those candied pecans tho!):
The Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial at sunset (I’d never been before - and it is STUNNING, so worth a visit):
A selection of tacos from a taco truck, eaten for breakfast on Peter’s last day in Tulsa:
A little guy seen ambling past me while out on a hike:
A gorgeous portrait of a salon owner whose business was destroyed during the Tulsa Race Massacre, on display at the Philbrook Museum:
And, as always, that Oklahoma sky:
Thanks for reading! I’ll be back next week with a wordier newsletter :)
